Is it required that you talk to Bastan on your first time to Haud in order for him to appear again later in the game? I'm about to go to the town of Sable now and still no signs of this guy.

I think you need to talk to him to trigger some dialogue where he talks about how he just goes along with everyone's artistic tastes. Then later, you bring him a ? Painting and he'll join you.
So yeah, if you didn't trigger that first dialogue, I'm not sure if he'll be available to you later.

| The second dialouge is random though, as long as you got a ? Painting just keep talking to him (but don't get him to appraise it), if the conversation doesn't activate just cancel out and try again. |

Do you need a certain ? Painting or any ol one? Has gone to him several times with ? Paintings, and nothing.
Edit. Finally got him, just talked to him after I got the HQ's. Then got a ? Painting and talked and cancelled and repeated till he joined me.
