[Phase 5] Harmonia vs Nameless Lands at Sanadia/Zumrut [Concluded]

At this broken land at the foothills of the Zumrut mountains stood two armies. The unsavory but also unpreditable forces of the Nameless Lands stood against the trained soldiers of Harmonia. As soldiers wondered when the order to advance would be given, one Harmonian officer strode forth on his steed, with a billowing deep blue cloak trailing behind; it was The Hot Ice, one of the most powerful warriors known in Harmonia. In a clear voice, he said, "I seek a duel!"

The moment he said that, the Hot Ice realized he was no longer standing at the foothills of Zumrut-- he was standing at a grassy knoll right beside a lake. Clueless as to what happened, he wandered towards the deep blue lake. Feeling sudden thirst, he peered into the lake--he immediately let out a scream--the image reflected on the lake was that of a boy; in fact, it was himself as he remembered when he was only seven years old. Taking a closer look at his arms and clothing, The Hot Ice realized that he was indeed no longer a grown man, but a boy. Thinking that this was a dream, he punched his own face, but he only hurt himself in the process.

He then heard a voice nearby-- it was a girl singing in a voice that sounded somewhat familiar:

Ring around the rosie,
Pocket full of posie;
Ashes, ashes,
We all fall down.

The Hot Ice followed the voice, and then saw a small girl in a blue dress singing towards the lake. The Hot Ice approached her and asked where he was. Surprised by being talked to suddenly, the girl lost her balance and fell into the lake--The Hot Ice saw a glimpse of her face as she fell--an expression of desperation. She called out for help, but The Hot Ice was unable to do anything as she was sucked down into the deep lake. At that moment, The Hot Ice remembered that the exact same thing happened in the past--a memory repressed through the ages.

The Hot Ice blacked out, and again he saw himself standing at a grassy knoll. Again, he heard the girl's singing voice. He tried to save her again, but she still fell into the lake with the same desperate expression. He blacked out again.

The same scene continued, but whatever The Hot Ice tried, the girl always ended up drowning, which also had the effect of dragging The Hot Ice's mind down into the abyss of madness--her call for help ringing in his head. Finally, unable to take it, The Hot Ice fell to the ground, crying. However, the moment his knees hit the grass, he instead hit barren ground--and his legs were covered with armor.

"How did that feel?"

The Hot Ice looked up at the voice, and saw the famed Nameless Land sorceress, Midori.

"Humans... so weak... so fragile... so entertaining!" Midori cawed out a ringing laugh, letting her head tilt back.

As The Hot Ice wondered if he is still dreaming, Midori unleashed a torrent of lightning, blasting The Hot Ice--the flashes reflecting off of her vampire-red eyes.

Finally understanding that he was tricked by the vampire enchantress, The Hot Ice cursed his willpower, and fell to the ground. Harmonian soldiers quickly hauled him away, ending the duel.

Nameless Lands wins this turn!

"It was ... scary.... a nightmare .. over and over again .."

That was the only comment that The Hot Ice could make after his defeat on the hands of the Nameless Lands' soceress, Midori. The doctors in the Harmonian camp did not know what to do other than letting one of their commanders to have as much rest as he could. With The Hot Ice forced to rest in the medical tent, the other commanders took the command of the Harmonian army and they were in a serious meeting to decide what action to be taken. They had decided that they would send out the cavalry unit of Karaya Blue's, and the infantry units under the leadership of Masaya and Rocky all together.

In the mean time, the Nameless Lands camp was excited by their sorceress victory over the Harmonian duelist. Though the party lasted all night, the soldiers were ready by the time sun was rising in the morning of the next day. Led by their own nation leader, Shrew, himself, the Nameless Lands army was full of confidence that they would be able to defeat the Harmonian army twice in a row.

The Vaguelord opened up the day's speech, "We have defeated them yesterday and we will defeat them again today."

As Shrew finished up the speech, he ordered one of his commanders to get the soceress Midori once again, "Let her finish up the job she started yesterday."

The commander returned a few moments later without the sorceress, "I apologize, my Lord. Sorceress Midori is still asleep and refuses to wake up."

Shrew was startled by the report, but then he realized that it was probably the price that he had to pay by having a vampire sorceress in the army. Vampires were not meant to fight in the morning as they required a lot of sleep. He nodded his head and then decided that he'd lead the army while bringing Nanami-san's cavalry unit and Benit149's infantry unit alongside his own Some Dudes with Bows archer unit.

The two nations' army finally met head to head in the battlefield. Once again, it was the foot of the Zumrut mountains that was picked as the battlefield location by the two armies. The difference this time was there was no duel challenges being shouted by either of the side. Without any hesitation, Karaya Blue led his 10,000 cavalrymen into the battlefield while Nameless Lands countered with Benit149's infantry unit. The Harmonian army cheered loudly as they witnessed Karaya Blue's cavalrymen taking down 10,000 of the 11,231 infantry soldiers of the Nameless Lands. As Benit149 failed to led her Connevant of Cuchulainn to kill any of the Harmonian soldiers, she knew that she had no other choice but to return back to the camp with a defeat.

The Harmonian army was estatic with the victory and they were overconfident because of that. Masaya led his 10,000 infantry soldiers without discussing with the other commanders, thinking that he could finish off the opponent. This time, it was the Nameless Lands who sent out their 9,363 cavalrymen. The Cactuar Brigade of Harmonia had trouble keeping up against the horsemen from Nameless Lands as one by one the soldiers dropped their swords as their heads were cut off from their bodies. Masaya screamed in agony when he looked at his surroundings, the headless bodies of soldiers wearing the Harmonian uniform were scattered all over the battlefield. Despite his experience in battles, Masaya was still a young man with soft heart. He could not take it anymore and ordered the brigade to retreat. Nanami-san returned back to the Nameless Lands camp victorious as he managed to keep his unit unharmed.

The Vaguelord knew that they could finish off the Harmonians if they could win the next battle, so he decided that it was time for his Some Dudes with Bows archer unit to take the spotlight. He positioned the 10,405 archers at the top of the hills surrounding the Zumrut mountains' foot, hoping that they would be able to shoot the arrows whenever the enemy decided to show their faces. Minutes after minutes passed by, and the Harmonians still could not be seen anywhere in the battlefield. Lord Shrew was starting to feel uncomfortable with the vagueness of the situation, as he wondered whether it meant that the Harmonians surrendered or not. After an hour of waiting for nothing, Shrew was about to order his archers to return to their camp as the victor of the silent battle. But before he could have done so, Rocky with his 7,500 infantry soldiers showed up from behind and forced the Nameless Lands archers to fight a close range battle. Some of the Dudes tried to launch an attack using their bows, but they hit nothing but blank spots as Rocky led his men slashing their way to kill 7,500 of the Dudes from Nameless Lands. The 2,905 archers who survived could only protect their leader back to the camp.

With a total of 26,863 casualties from both sides, a mysterious spectator watched from a distance and wondered whether the battle was worth the casualties or not.

Harmonian confidence renewed at their hard-fought victory against the hordes of the north, the officers of the Holy Kingdom prepared their troops for one final defense of the region, aiming to damange the Nameless Lands forces enough to put them off attacking for another day.

However, the soldiers of the Northern Outlands had no desire to taste defeat on the field of battle and so the two oppossing armies marched forward with grim determination, clashing near the borders of the Sanadia and Zumrut regions, one more time.

Smirn's infantry regiment quickly took the offensive, victory within reach, the infantry unit charged ahead aiming to sweep through the Harmonian forces. However Karaya Blue's 10,000 strong cavalry regiment quickly flanked the overzealous attackers, catching them unawares. Without sufficent time to react all 5,770 officers of Smirn's unit were wiped out without Karaya Blue's regiment suffering a single fatality.

Gritting their teeth in determination, the officers of the Nameless Lands held back, keeping their anger in check. They had no desire to suffer another loss like that. Meanwhile, bouyed by their success, the Harmonian camp ordered Rai-Jin's cavalry regiment, which numbered 8,000 soldiers, forward to pick up where Karaya Blue had left off. However, their rash thinking allowed the Nameless Lands to counter quickly, sending 14,304 magicians under Midori's Fluir Regiment to counter the assault. The Harmonian cavalry charged forward, hoping for an infantry unit to destoryed but were met instead with the power arcane magics of the Nameless Lands, taking every single officer down, wiping out the Harmonian unit at no cost to the magicians of the Northern Outlands.

Morale shot up in the Nameless Lands camp as Harmonian frantically tried to devise a stratagem to ensure victory this day. Fearful of the powerful magics deployed by the enemy, MrMan's Arrows of Justice Regiment, a regiment containing 7,000 fine archers, were sent forward to engaged the Nameless hordes. However, before an attack could be made, a small group of infantrymen, 462 to be exact, led by Lunar Shadow sprung from the hidden passes surrounding the battlefield and ambushed the archer unit. Unable to get their arrows to their bows in time, each man in Lunar Shadows regiment cut down a man of his own. 462 Harmonian men felled without reply and their morale finally broken, the Harmonian unit fled from battle and fearing a massive loss, the other units of the Harmonian military were quickly routed, retreating from the field of battle and leaving the Nameless Lands path to Sanadia secure.
