[Phase 5] Scarlet Moon vs Jowston at Southwindow [Concluded]

Archers looked ahead anxciously from the ramparts towards the south, wondering when the enemies will appear. Jowston forces have been alerted that Scarlet Moon forces have been advancing north following the fall of Badlands.

Some soldiers wondered if it was wise for Jowston to invade Scarlet Moon as far as Dana, seeing the current attack as a backlash. However, most soldiers merely wished to defend Southwindow from attack. In fact, many citizens volunteered to help defend the walls. The city was bustling with activity with citizens preparing for the oncoming siege, many decidng to remain at this ancient former capital instead of escaping to safer realms.

A horn was suddenly blown at the southern ramparts--a sign that enemies have been spotted. Archers atop the southern ramparts, commanded by former alliance leader adrich, stood by as they saw Scarlet Moon forces advance rapidly towards their walls. The Scarlet Moon forces paused as the approached the wall--a single figure in scarlet robes walked forward.

The figure walked forward--his face hidden deep in his hood. Clutching a withered wand, the figure spoke witha raspy voice, "...I am Wiseman, strategist of the Scarlet Moon Empire. I seek a duel with your bravest..."

Stroking his venerable beard, adrich responded, "trying to make us open our gates Wiseman? We won't be taken by your tricks! The duel is declined!"

Seeing their leader's declining the duel as a sign of cowardice:
2250 soldiers abandoned adrich's regiment!
2271 soldiers abandoned UberYuber's regiment!


Wiseman uttered, "Humph, then you shall die..." waving his hands. Seeing the order to march forward, the Scarlet Moon army advanced against Southwindow walls; there were literally tens of thousands of them. However, adrich calmly ordered his 20250 archers, "There's many of them, which means we needn't bother aiming. Just keep firin'!"

A volley was released against the invaders, striking Assistant to Milich's ranger regiment numbering 20000. The rangers with their soft armor were not able to protect themselves from the arrows, and their attempts at magic were also disrupted by the projectiles. Some rangers managed to clumb the walls with latters, spilling much blood of the Jowston archers. However, the rangers were forced to retreat after a bulk of their forces were annihilate by the archers. In total, 15188 rangers perished, while 7500 archers of Jowston gave their lives protecting the walls.

Meanwhile, middletails was trying to infiltrate the city from the north side, hoping to catch the enemy off guard. With her 10 soldiers, she climbed the walls, assuming that it would be unguarded. However, once she climbed into the ramparts, she realized numerous soldiers laid in waiting.

"We assumed Scarlet Moon would resort to trickery, but only 10 soldiers! " UberYuber said as he ordered his 20440 men to charge forward, annihilating middletail's regiment in an instant (although they took down 4 of UberYuber's men). .

Realizing that the initial attack failed, the Scarlet Moon commander ordered a retreat to set up camp. Southwindow citizens cheered the initial victory. There was still hope for protecting their homes.

[Scarlet Moon Empire vs Jowston at South Window]

Following the earlier small-scale attack on their lands, Jowston carefully patrolled the region, seeking out any small groupings of Scarlet Moon soldiers planning to make another infiltration of the walls of South Window.

Until...

Starslasher the commander of The Thunder Elemental Regiment stood silent as he heared the report. Over 50,000 Scarlet Moon forces were on their way. Hurriedly he sent a messenger back to the South Window military base requesting reinforcements for his fort. He sighed as his forces prepared to sally forth against the magician unit approaching from the south side.

Keriaku's Angels of the Darkness Regiment, 20,000 strong were caught off guard by the sally. They had been planning on using their magic to destroy the fort, crushing the men beneath them. Keriaku quickly ordered the unit to continue the plans as the Jowston infantry, numbering 25,000, rushed into their ranks, cleaving through the magicians with their swords while the Scarlet Moon unit tried to take out the fort itself, collapsing towers and portions of the walls with blasts of runic magic. Their casualties numbering 6,250, Keriaku ordered his unit to pull before further losses could be taken, moving back over the border into the Badlands while Starslasher gave another sigh. 5,000 of his men had been crushed beneath the ruins of his fort.

"Not much of a victory..." he mused. At least the reinforcements should be here soon.

UberYuber's Lunar Shadow Regiment, numbering 25,545 in cavalry forces, arrived much sooner than expected. Which was just as well considering that another Scarlet Moon regiment was galloping across the border, hoping to strike at South Window before the alarm could be raised. Raze's Shinigami Regiment and their 20,000 cavalry officers halted suddenly as they saw the long ranks of the Jowston cavalry before them.

"They're early, huh?" Raze muttered as the two lines stared each other down. "Well, there's no backing down now I suppose... CHARGE!"

The two regiments reared up and charged towards each other at full speed, swords brandished. The two units clashed in an even battle of skill and ferocity however, the Jowston numerical advantage was obvious. Their casualties numbering 12,773, Raze sighed and ordered a retreat, knowing that the troops numbers did not favour them this day. UberYuber let out a sigh of relief, they had lost 7,500 men. If Scarlet Moon had pressed the attack...

"Well, no use in worrying about it now." he sighed. "It looks like South Window is safe for now."


Jowston wins this turn and successfully defend the region of South Window!
